Michigan Football: Way-too-Early Game-by-Game Predictions for 2022
After winning a couple of tough, rivalry games in a row, Michigan is going to have to be careful of a letdown game here. Rutgers is a tough team that always plays hard and above their talent level. That was the case for several games in 2021. Head coach Greg Schiano has done a good job of rebuilding this program for a second time.
Barring injury or Rutgers being wildly better than expected, Michigan should win this game comfortably. Their defense is going to make it tough on the Scarlet Knights offense and force turnovers. Michigan avoids the letdown and gets a win in New Jersey.
Final Score: Michigan 44, Rutgers 10 (8-1, 5-1)
In one of the most exciting games from last season, Michigan avoided the upset and beat Nebraska in Lincoln. The Cornhuskers had one of the stranger seasons in recent memory in 2021. While they did only win three games, all nine of their losses were by single digits. That is a remarkable accomplishment and Nebraska is hoping some of the close game luck will go their way this in 2022.
Head coach Scott Frost is back for another season, but longtime quarterback Adrian Martinez is not. It will be either former Texas Longhorn Casey Thompson or former Florida State quarterback Chubba Purdy taking snaps for Nebraska. They should win more games and still remain competitive, but it won’t be enough to upset Michigan in Ann Arbor.
Final Score: Michigan 35, Nebraska 31 (9-1, 6-1 )
