1. Baylor

One of the teams that I believe will have a serious shot to win its first-ever national title in 2022 is Baylor and that’s simply because Dave Aranda has the Bears ahead of schedule.

You might think that Baylor has won a national title before because it has been fairly successful over the years, but even with 26 all-time bowl appearances, 10 conference titles, and a Heisman Trophy winner, the Bears are without a coveted championship.

The Bears return Gerry Bohanon at quarterback and I truly believe he has the look of a player who can lead his team to the promised land. He can put Baylor on his back.

But it’s not like the Bears are void of talent outside of him; this team literally won a Big 12 title in Aranda’s first full season in 2021 and they aren’t going anywhere. The Big 12 might be Baylor’s to lose next season unless Oklahoma steps up and figures out its quarterback situation under Brent Venables.

I’m buying stock in the Bears because of their elite defense and talented quarterback along with a head coach who has won a national title as a defensive coordinator.

Baylor’s title-less drought may come to an end.
