Wide Receivers

Starting X Receiver: Romello Brinson

Backup: Jacolby George

Starting Slot Receiver: Key’Shawn Smith

Backup: Xavier Restrepo

Starting Z Receiver: Frank Ladson

Backup: Breshard Smith

This is going to be the position group that is going to lose some significant contributors. Rambo and Harley put together two solid seasons in 2022, but that does not make them irreplaceable.

Key’Shawn Smith is the veteran of the group and should have a starting spot, whether it is in the slot or even on the outside. Smith has blazing speed and Hurricanes fans have expected a lot of him. He is going to have a chance to deliver in 2022. Romello Brinson was a blue-chip recruit in 2021 and is a breakout candidate for this upcoming season.

The newcomer to the group is Clemson transfer, Frank Ladson. Ladson was a highly-rated recruit out of the state of Florida that never could find the consistency he needed while at Clemson. He brings size and the ability to make tough catches and Miami is going to rely on him to be a leader this season.

The backups have talent and should see the field plenty. Xavier Restrepo shined in some spots last season and may remind some Hurricane fans of former receiver Braxton Berrios. Jacolby George should factor in and is talented. Breshard Smith has blazing speed and showed last year that he can be used in many ways.
