Vanderbilt Football: Way-too-early 2022 game-by-game predictions
By Austin Lloyd
Game 4: at Northern Illinois (L)
In regard to the quality of opponent that Vandy’s going to lose to, this will probably be the Commodores’ lowest point of the season.
Northern Illinois managed to win nine games last year, including both a MAC championship game and an “upset” over Georgia Tech of the ACC (on the road). A home win over Vanderbilt will mean next to nothing to the Huskies at this point.
Game 5: at Alabama (L)
Just in case losing three of four out-of-conference games wasn’t brutal enough of a start for the Commodores, they will then be making a visit to Tuscaloosa. There isn’t anything to say here, other than the fact that there should probably be a parental advisory warning presented before going into this one.
Game 6: vs. Ole Miss (L)
Vanderbilt will be back in Nashville for this matchup (and coming off of their first bye), but those just might be the only positives that the Commodores have entering this beatdown.
Ole Miss has cemented itself as one of the top teams in the SEC, winning 10 games and making a New Year’s Six appearance last season. Not only that, but the Rebels currently have a top 25 recruiting class. This bloodbath won’t make Vandy’s 2022 run any prettier.
