Vanderbilt Football: Way-too-early 2022 game-by-game predictions
By Austin Lloyd
Game 10: at Kentucky (L)
By now, I am convinced that the Vanderbilt Commodores have the toughest road schedule in college football for 2022. Kentucky won 10 games last season, and head coach Mark Stoops is secretly cementing himself as a top-20 head coach in the country. Expect a huge win for the Wildcats in this one.
Game 11: vs. Florida (L)
New Gators head coach Billy Napier has done an excellent job for Florida, and he hasn’t even coached a game for them yet. They currently have a top 20 recruiting class and are looking to reclaim their spot as one of the top teams in the SEC’s East division.
The Gators have only lost to Vandy once since the 1980s, so the chances of next fall being an outlier are unbelievably slim.
Game 12: vs. Tennessee (L)
I, personally, was not a believer in Tennessee head coach Josh Heupel. However, his Volunteers were on the brink of winning eight games in his first season with the program. Within their win column was a 24-point victory over the Commodores, and while rivalries can be tricky, this one — once again — probably won’t be.
The Vanderbilt Commodores will finish their 2022 slate with an abysmal record of 1-11, with their sole victory coming from them prevailing over the Elon Phoenix at home. This, without a doubt, will be in the running for their worst season of the 21st century thus far.
