Clemson Football: 2022 Way-Too-Early Game Predictions
By Kathryn Rose
Two years ago, these two teams had a thrilling conference battle that decided part of the national championship picture. This time it’s a non-conference game, but one that’s still big as far as the national title race is concerned.
Marcus Freeman comes into his first year as Notre Dame coach with some questions marks. Likely top 10 draft pick Kyle Hamilton is gone at safety, and the quarterback situation is between two very inexperienced guys.
Yet, there’s still talent for the Irish. Most of the defense is back, and tight end Michael Mayer is a reliable pass-catching option for any new quarterback.
Freeman’s squad picks up a last-second victory, and knocks Clemson out of the national title race.
Final score: Notre Dame 23, Clemson 21 (Clemson 7-2, 5-1 in ACC)
Getting a rising Louisville team immediately after Notre Dame is brutal.
Dynamic, do everything quarterback Malik Cunningham returns, as does a significant portion of Louisville’s team from a year ago. While the Cardinals only went 6-7, they could show significant progression in Scott Satterfield’s fourth year.
Clemson wins, but it’s gonna cause a heart attack.
Final score: Clemson 38, Louisville 35 (Clemson 8-2, 6-1 in ACC)
