6. Boston College Eagles: Joseph Griffin, Jr., Tight End

Eagles head coach Jeff Hafley has to be excited about the possibility of what the offense can be this fall. Quarterback Phil Jurkovec returns after injuries derailed much of his 2021, and wide receiver Zay Flowers also comes back.

Incoming freshman Joseph Griffin, Jr. figures to be a vital part of those plans. Griffin, a 6-foot-4 and 190-pound prospect, projects a tight end at the college level. With his height and basketball background, the Springfield Central product is an instant red-zone threat. Trae Barry decided to enter the NFL Draft, so the opportunity is there for Griffin to earn some snaps.

5. Virginia Tech Hokies: Transfer, Grant Wells (Marshall)

New head coach Brent Pry saw starting quarterback Braxton Burmeister transfer to San Diego State. That left Connor Blumrick and Tahj Bullock as the last quarterbacks standing in the Hokie quarterback room. Coach Pry and the Hokie staff signed Jason Brown (South Carolina) and Grant Wells.

Jason Brown was supposed to be a graduate assistant before stepping on the field in Columbia, South Carolina, last season. Wells led the Thundering Herd to consecutive bowl appearances in his two seasons as a starter. Expect this to be an open competition, with Wells having every opportunity to start this fall.
