Running Back

Starter: Nay’Quan Wright
Backup: Demarckus Bowman OR Lorenzo Lingard OR Montrell Johnson

This is a big question mark for the Gator’s offense next season. Dameon Pierce was a solid running back for his whole career in Gainesville and his tough running ability would have been perfect for this offense. There are some talented options at running back, but they are unproven options as well.

The presumed starter should be Nay’Quan Wright. Wright had over 300 yards rushing and one touchdown last season, but should be ready to take over the full-time duties. Wright is explosive and could have a big season with improvement from the offensive line.

The other guys that should be in the mix are former five-star recruits, Demarckus Bowman and Lorenzo Lingard. Bowman was supposed to be the leading back for the Gators after transferring in from Clemson, but that never materialized. He will have every chance to do so and could even be the starter.

Lingard has not done much since transferring in from Miami but will have a clean slate with the new coaching staff. Transfer Montrell Johnson has plenty of familiarity with Napier after playing for him at Louisiana and he could be a factor.
