Big 12: Baylor Bears

There are two crystal-clear options to choose from when picking who will take the Big 12 crown in 2022, and those are Baylor and Oklahoma State.

Of the two, Baylor is the one with the head coach that is still wet behind the ears. Dave Aranda has only held his head coaching position with the Bears since 2020. Meanwhile, Cowboys head coach Mike Gundy has sat in his current position since 2005. But guess what? I already trust the new guy more.

Here’s the deal: Aranda has a mere ounce of the head coaching experience that Gundy has, yet he has already tied him in Big 12 titles. In other words, we’ve most likely seen Gundy’s peak at Oklahoma State, but there’s no way that we can say the same about Aranda when considering his short time at Baylor.

As for the Oklahoma Sooners, they just lost their stud of a head coach in Lincoln Riley to USC (and replaced him with the promising-yet-unproven Brent Venables), so they will probably be even less of a challenge for the Bears than the Cowboys will.
