After the trip to Dublin to take on Northwestern at the start of the season, Nebraska football gets four games at home and the Huskers have to take advantage.

Following a bye week, the Huskers get Indiana who struggled last season too. Tom Allen is a tough coach and the Hoosiers are always tough defensively. They also added former Missouri quarterback Conner Bazelak, so this team will be much improved.

The defense is always stout too but having a veteran quarterback like Thompson with the ability to protect the ball will be key. As long as the Huskers do that, they’ll find a way.

Final score: Nebraska 24, Indiana 17 (5-0)

At some point, Nebraska football is going to lose a game it shouldn’t, and this Friday night affair against Rutgers certainly qualifies as a trap game.

A couple of years ago, the Huskers had to rally to beat Rutgers in New Jersey and this is going to be a really tough game too. Noah Vedral was formerly a Nebraska quarterback and he’ll be playing again for the Scarlet Knights, although Gavin Wimsatt could push him this year and Rutgers with a top-100 talent at QB is a different animal.

Rutgers always wins one game a year it probably shouldn’t and to the chagrin of Scott Frost and Husker fans, that will come against Nebraska.

Final score: Rutgers 28, Nebraska 20 (5-1)
