Secondary

Starting Cornerbacks: Jarrick Bernard-Converse, Mekhi Garner, and Greg Brooks Jr

Backups: Sage Ryan, Latterance Welch, and Pig Cage

Starting Safeties: Jay Ward and Joe Foucha

Backups: Major Burns and Jordan Toles

It is likely that LSU football is going to be transfer heavy in the secondary and they may not even be done adding players to the back end of the defense. With the departures of Derek Stingley Jr and Eli Ricks at cornerback, LSU has some big shoes to fill.

One of the top transfers for LSU was Jarrick Bernard-Converse from Oklahoma State and he is going to start right away. Converse was a starter on one of the best defenses in the country last season and LSU will need him to keep playing at a high level.

Mekhi Garner is a transfer from Louisiana and he will take one of the spots on the outside. Another transfer, Greg Brooks Jr from Arkansas, will likely be the starting nickel.

Jay Ward returns at safety and he will be one of the leaders of the defense this season. Another Arkansas transfer, Joe Foucha, will be the other starting safety.

The secondary is the biggest question mark about the LSU defense and it will be a unit to watch all season.
