Baylor Football: Way-too-Early 2022 Game Predictions
For the last home game of the season, Baylor is going to welcome in-state opponent TCU. For the first time in more than two decades, Gary Patterson will not be on the TCU sideline as the head coach. Sonny Dykes is now the head coach for the Horned Frogs and he will be bringing the air raid offense to Fort Worth.
It could be a tough transition year for TCU though. There are no immediate pieces in place for the team to be a Big 12 title contender and it might be 2023 or 2024 before the Horned Frogs will be ready to make a push for the conference title. Baylor will win this game by double digits.
Final Score: Baylor 34, TCU 20 (8-3, 6-2)
For the season finale, Baylor will stay in-state and take on the Longhorns. Texas is going to be hoping for a bounce-back season, after a terrible 5-7 start under Steve Sarkisian and there is reason to believe that Texas could be ready to challenge for the Big 12 championship. Texas just brought in a top-five recruiting class and has some impact players ready to help turn things around in Austin.
This is a tough game to predict. On paper, Texas has a talent advantage and has seemingly upgraded at quarterback by adding Ohio State transfer, Quinn Ewers.
However, Baylor will be the more disciplined team and will use their defense to stop the high-powered Texas offense. The Bears get the upset in Austin.
Final Score: Baylor 31, Texas 28 (9-3, 7-2)
