1. James Franklin, Penn State

James Franklin won a Big Ten title back in 2016 and I think he’s still coasting on that. He’s parlayed that now-six-year-old title into an extension from Penn State which is rather shocking considering the fact that he’s just 11-11 over the past two seasons.

Some Penn State fans actually wanted coaching carousel rumors about Franklin to come to fruition this past season as he was the subject of LSU and USC talk. However, he signed an extension which surprised a lot of people and he’s making a ton of money and his job security is seemingly impenetrable.

Penn State expects to contend for Big Ten titles every year and having just one since he took over back in 2014 is unacceptable. Plus, he has four seasons of seven or fewer wins and just three of 10 or more. That’s not good enough in Happy Valley yet he continues to be considered one of the best the conference has to offer.

Plus, how the heck is he always the subject of coaching rumors at big schools?

I guess we’ll never know.
