Texas A&M projected starter: Max Johnson

Just like Michigan, Texas A&M football has big aspirations for the 2022 college football season and armed with one of the best recruiting classes ever in 2022, as well as some other very talented classes under Jimbo Fisher, the Aggies should have all the pieces to contend for the SEC and the national championships in 2022.

Yet, Texas A&M football still has a decision to make. Zach Calzada did beat Alabama last year but transferred after being underwhelming. Haynes King was supposed to be QB1 before getting hurt and LSU transfer Max Johnson seems like a perfect addition from the transfer portal.

But that doesn’t mean he is guaranteed to start. Conner Weigman is a big-time quarterback prospect and Fisher thinks so highly of him, Texas A&M football didn’t really pursue Quinn Ewers after he entered the portal.

So I believe it’s going to be Johnson starting next season. He’s proven in the SEC and he can help the Aggies win next season but he will also be keeping the seat warm — sort of like McNamara — until the five-star understudy is ready to take over.
