Projected LSU starter: Jayden Daniels

The LSU quarterback competition got more interesting this week with the addition of former top-100 recruit Jayden Daniels from Arizona State.

Originally, Daniels was expected back at Arizona State. The Sun Devils passed on the chance to add Spencer Rattler in the transfer portal because Daniels was supposed to come back, so it was surprising to see him leave Arizona State.

But when you think about all the places he could go, few spots are better than LSU. Walker Howard is the quarterback of the future for Brian Kelly but he might not be ready to play significant snaps in 2022.

Some freshmen are ready and some aren’t. That’s why it’s imperative to have another quality option for the starting quarterback job and the Tigers have two. Myles Brennan is also back and threw 11 touchdown passes compared to three interceptions back in 2021.

Daniels has 34 career touchdown passes but threw just 10 last season to go along with 10 interceptions. Yet, he has also rushed for over 1,200 yards in his career and under Kelly, he could finally realize his potential.

That’s why I expect him under center for the Tigers in 2022.
