Wide Receiver

Starting X Receiver: Josh Vann

Backup: Ahmarean Brown

Starting Z Receiver: Antwane Wells

Backup: Xavier Legette

Starting Slot Receiver: Jaheim Bell

Backup: Trey Adkins

The top receiver from last year’s team, Josh Vann, is back in 2022 and he will be the top guy for the new quarterback in Rattler. Vann had nearly 700 yards in a bad offense last season and could see a bump in production with better quarterback play. His backup is likely going to be Ahmarean Brown, who caught over 10 passes last season.

One of the impact transfers that South Carolina is counting on is James Madison transfer Antwane Wells. Wells was one of the most sought-after transfers from the portal and he should claim one of the outside spots next to Vann. Xavier Legette will be his backup and he had a minimal impact last season, catching only eight passes.

In the slot, Jaheim Bell might be stepping into that role to help South Carolina get their best pass catchers on the field. Bell was the tight end last season, but at 6’2 232 LBS, he is bigger than most slot players. He was the second-leading receiver for the team last season and they need to find ways to get him involved.
