Game 1: vs. Sam Houston (W)

Typically, it is difficult to not see the act of paying small schools to face you as somewhat lame, but if the FCS power that you chose was Sam Houston, then maybe folks could let it slide just this once.

Now let’s be honest: do the Bearkats have any true chance of knocking off Texas A&M on Kyle Field to open their season? No. However, they haven’t been dealt a regular-season loss in their last two seasons, so there are certainly smaller fish that the Aggies could feed on.

Record: 1-0

Game 2: vs. Appalachian State (W)

Here we go again with the “small, but not too small” mindset. The Sun Belt’s App State Mountaineers haven’t suffered a losing record since 2013, and they are not beyond giving the bigger dogs a scare every now and again.

However, this should really just boil down to who is the stronger team, and that title will obviously be bestowed upon the Aggies after four physical quarters.

Record: 2-0

Game 3: vs. Miami (W)

This is where things begin to pick up speed. The Hurricanes have not exactly been the powerhouse in recent seasons that they are historically used to being, but that doesn’t mean that they should be trifled with.

Miami has a new coach in Mario Cristobal and should under no circumstances be overlooked. In fact, if this game were a road one for the Aggies, my ruling would perhaps change. But nonetheless, give me Texas A&M in a competitive one.

Record: 3-0
