5 college football teams that will have “disappointing” seasons in 2022
2. Michigan Wolverines (2021 record: 12-2)
Let me start this by saying that Michigan proved me wrong in 2021. I didn’t think Jim Harbaugh was ever going to win the Big Ten and he did just that after a 2-4 season in 2020 and broke through, beating Ohio State, topping Iowa in the conference title game, and then making his first-ever College Football Playoff berth.
While the Wolverines were stomped by Georgia, they made it to the big stage which was a huge step for the program.
Unfortunately, I think there will just be too much working against them in 2022 for the Wolverines to repeat as Big Ten champs and I could actually see them going 9-3 or 8-4. Sure, I could be wrong, but Michigan loses Aidan Hutchinson, David Ojabo, Hassan Haskins, Josh Ross, Daxton Hill, and both offensive coordinator and defensive coordinator.
There’s going to be a ton of change in Ann Arbor, not to mention the Wolverines have question marks at the quarterback position with the fanbase divided after Cade McNamara’s performance against Georgia in the playoff.
Too much uncertainty will likely lead to a couple of steps back in 2022.
