5 college football teams facing intense pressure in 2022
Texas A&M
I believe that Jimbo Fisher is an elite head coach and that eventually, he’s going to win really big with the Texas A&M football program.
Yet, in four seasons, the results have been a little underwhelming. In three seasons that weren’t shortened due to COVID-19, the Aggies haven’t won more than nine games and outside of the 2021 season, in which they went 9-1, they haven’t contended for an SEC championship.
Now, Texas A&M football has been killing it on the recruiting trail. The Aggies have been as good as anyone since Fisher arrived and in 2022, he signed the best class ever according to the 247 sports composite rankings.
That goes along with a slew of other elite classes. At some point though, this elite talent needs to deliver. Texas A&M did beat Alabama in 2021, but the Aggies also lost to Arkansas and went 8-4 when many expected them to push the Tide in the SEC West.
Instead, the Aggies were a non-factor and if that happens again in 2022, fans might start asking why Texas A&M football is paying elite money to a coach who isn’t delivering elite results.
