Texas

A couple of the college football teams on this list have head coaches who are on the hot seat. Frost and Norvell are likely to be fired if they don’t at least reach bowl games in 2022. But Jimbo, Franklin, and Steve Sarkisian aren’t getting fired, but that doesn’t mean they don’t face pressure.

And of all the big-name programs, I don’t know of any that face more pressure than Texas does heading into 2022.

Sarkisian was hired last offseason to finally be the head coach to right the ship and all he did in his first season was take a program that won nine games in 2020, and won just five.

That’s something nobody expected. Sark rebounded and signed a top-10 recruiting class, plus added the former No. 1 overall player in 2022 in QB Quinn Ewers, who transferred from Ohio State.

With Ewers, Xavier Worthy, and Bijan Robinson, Texas should have one of the best offenses in all of college football. Combine that will the abundance of talent the Longhorns have all over the field and there’s no reason Texas shouldn’t win 9-10 games in 2022.

If they don’t, there’s no doubt that Sark will be on the hot seat heading into 2023, meaning the pressure to win starts now, especially since Arch Manning isn’t coming to a program that isn’t at least showing signs of making major progress.
