1. Nebraska Cornhuskers

Not many teams can go 3-9 and somehow conjure up some positive momentum heading into the next season, but Nebraska was a special case.

The Cornhuskers may have only had three wins, but all nine losses were by fewer than nine points, including near-wins over Michigan, Michigan State, and Ohio State which all finished the season ranked in the top 12. They also almost beat Oklahoma, Wisconsin, and Iowa which were the other three ranked opponents on the schedule.

Scott Frost is facing a make-or-break season after going now four seasons without a bowl berth in Lincoln and he has a talented roster that could finally take him to the postseason.

Nebraska was so close to reversing its record in 2021 and I think that with Casey Thompson at quarterback and plenty of talent on both sides of the ball, it’s fair to believe that the Cornhuskers could rise up and win the Big Ten West and represent the division in the conference title game.

Maybe this is the year Frost finally breaks through. It truly feels like it (yes, I’m aware this sounds like a broken record).
