5 worst states for college football entering the 2022 season

1. Arizona

The state of Arizona isn’t an outstanding choice for college football pleasure most years, but in 2022 it just might be home to the worst team in the Power Five.

When looking at the schedule on the horizon for the Arizona Wildcats (who are coming off of a 1-11 season), they are in serious danger of going 0-12 next season. And while the Arizona State Sun Devils may remain formidable, they won’t be enough to help the state bounce back from that level of college football turmoil.

Looking at the only smaller power that the state has to offer, we see the Northern Arizona Lumberjacks, who also couldn’t manage to obtain a winning record in 2022, despite playing at their own level of competition.

Recruiting could do Arizona’s reputation some favors, but only so many, as while the Wildcats are second in the Pac-12 with five four-star talents, the Sun Devils are sulking in last place with only one — which means next to nothing.

So there it is: in regards to past performances, expected future performances, and recruiting that leaves a good deal to be desired, the state of Arizona is the nation’s worst entering the 2022 college football season.
