5 college football teams most likely to go undefeated in 2022
1. Alabama Crimson Tide
College football isn’t ready for an angry Nick Saban. OK, maybe Saban is always pretty angry (on the exterior), but he’s out for blood after losing in the national title game to Alabama and former student of his, Kirby Smart.
The Crimson Tide have the Heisman winner returning in Bryce Young who will be the best quarterback in the country and they also have a solid defense, elite receiving corps, and a running back transfer from Georgia Tech who I think could be a legit Heisman threat in Jahmyr Gibbs. This team is about as well-rounded as any in recent memory.
Plus, Saban doesn’t take too kindly to losing in the national title game. In fact, he followed up a 2016 national title game loss with a championship the following year. He lost in the title game in 2018 and then won the national championship two years later in 2020. That trend should continue as the roster is impressive and loaded.
Young should be able to lead this offense to monster numbers, especially with a threat like Gibbs behind him and an offensive line that should pave the way. Teams will have a tough time out-scoring Alabama.
And the Tide have the No. 2 recruiting class coming in.
The schedule is tough with road games against LSU, Ole Miss, Arkansas, Tennessee, and Texas, but Alabama has mowed through tougher gauntlets before. This team is going to get stronger throughout the year and if it goes unbeaten in the regular season, it’s going to win it all.
