5 post-spring transfer portal targets for Nebraska Football
Branden Jennings, LB (K-State, Maryland)
Nebraska football is a little thin at linebacker heading into the 2022 season, especially after losing Will Honas to the transfer portal.
Honas could have played yet another season for the Huskers, who need that experience at linebacker, but surprisingly, he left and decided to play a seventh season elsewhere.
Nick Henrich, the Huskers’ second-leading tackler in 2021, is expected to start at one position with Luke Reimer at the other, but with Branden Jennings just entering the transfer portal (again) on Monday night, Nebraska football should make a phone call.
I understand that Jennings is in the transfer portal for the second time in a few months. However, maybe Manhattan, Kansas didn’t agree with him. Who knows why he left? What I do know is that he was a top-150 recruit in the 2021 class and had 23 tackles in seven games last season.
Jennings is 6-foot-4, 225 pounds and he would be a massive upgrade at inside linebacker. The combination of him and Henrich would have tons of potential and while Jennings may be looking to head closer to home, which is Florida, Nebraska should at least kick the tires and see if he would be interested in playing ball in the Big Ten…in Lincoln.
