2022 NFL Draft: Perfect fits for the top 5 quarterbacks
4. Matt Corral, Ole Miss
Injuries have been an issue for Matt Corral in the past year or so. They hindered him during the end of the regular season and after getting hurt in his team’s bowl game, it has hurt him in the NFL draft process.
At the end of the day though, NFL teams value quarterbacks, and just like they usually do, guys like Corral are moving up the board.
Corral is a really interesting guy. He’s listed at 6-foot-2 and 212 pounds. He’s a solid athlete, can run, and is a dual-threat in the same sense as Ridder. He also doesn’t have the incredibly big arm that someone like Willis or Pickett has.
But Corral did complete 67 percent of his passes in college and over the past two seasons, he threw 49 touchdowns in the SEC and averaged over nine yards per attempt.
One NFL draft comparison was Baker Mayfield and I feel like that really fits. Corral maybe wasn’t as refined as Baker and the arm talent isn’t quite there, but he’ll be a solid pro and I think New Orleans makes a ton of sense. Detroit too if Corral is still on the board that late.
Perfect fit: Saints, Lions
