1. Chris Olave – WR, Ohio State

This is a very talented draft class at wide receiver. The Steelers need to add a true number three guy behind Dionte Johnson and Chase Claypool. Ohio State’s Chris Olave would fill that role nicely.

Olave is 100 percent ready to compete at the next level. With game-breaking speed that will challenge any secondary, he would give the Steelers an instant vertical threat. Not only his speed but his vision in the field of play and shiftiness make him an all-around talent.

Olave could also be a contributor on special teams too. While he has limited punt and kick returning experience, he blocked two punts in 2018 and 2019 for the Buckeyes.

The Steelers have a history under Kevin Colbert drafting solid wide receivers, giving Colbert a reputation as a wide receiver guru. Johnson and Claypool have certainly lived up to expectations so far. JuJu Smith-Schuster, Emmanuel Sanders, Antonio Brown, Santonio Holmes, and Antwaan Randle El are all guys drafted under Colbert’s watch.

Will Colbert strike gold again in his final NFL Draft? If he and Tomlin decide they do not want a franchise quarterback in 2022, they may just look to improve the offense by adding a talented weapon.

Olave is one of the best receivers on the board and should be available to them if they so choose.
