2022 NFL Mock draft: Final first-round projection
Daxton Hill is a former five-star recruit that just barely scratched the surface of his potential playing at Michigan. He was used as a cornerback, safety, and nickelback and excelled in all three roles. He’s got 4.3 speed in the 40 and is comfortable in man-to-man outside or in the slot. He’s the kind of DB you need in this day and age and Bill Belichick will put him to great use, especially because he’s a really solid tackler and blitzer too.
Chris Olave is also on the board here and maybe that would cause the Packers to go in another direction. However, outside of a guy like Garrett Wilson, no one in the 2022 NFL draft reminds me more of Davante Adams than Treylon Burks. He’s great after the catch, he’s big, he’s physical and he’s still fast (4.5 in 40). Burks can stretch the field but can get yards on the quick throws too, a lot like Adams used to. He’s not Davante but he’s the best WR option left.
The Cardinals need a pass rusher after Chandler Jones got away in free agency and this is a great spot to land one in Purdue’s George Karlaftis. The 6-foot-4, 275-pounder can play multiple spots on the defensive line and had 13 sacks over the past three years so one way or another, he should be able to help the defense right away.
