College football’s post-spring Top 25 power rankings for 2022 season
Although Lincoln Riley is gone along with Caleb Williams, Brent Venables and Dillon Gabriel should fill in quite nicely. The UCF transfer quarterback is going to be fantastic for the Sooners and will have some Heisman hype this season and Venables should help get that defense on track. Oklahoma will be a top contender in the Big 12 yet again.
Sam Hartman is one of my favorite quarterbacks in college football and he’s severely underrated. He’s going to lead one of the most explosive offenses in college football yet again along with AT Perry and Dave Clawson will prove yet again to be one of the best coaches in the nation. I wouldn’t be shocked by a Wake Forest ACC title.
Mike Gundy is fresh off his third Big 12 title game berth ever and although he fell just short of his second conference championship by just yards (literally), Oklahoma State should be one of the favorites to win in 2022. Spencer Sanders is back at quarterback and his experience is going to help the Cowboys tremendously.
Dave Aranda winning a Big 12 title in his first full year as head coach gave fans flashbacks to the successful on-field days of Art Briles. Although he lost Gerry Bohanon shockingly to the transfer portal, the offense looks to be in good shape and the defense will be one of the best the Big 12 has to offer. Repeat champions? The Bears will be the safe bet here.
I’ll be honest with you, I didn’t expect to have NC State ranked this high in my post-spring power rankings, but the more I look at their roster, the more impressed I am. Devin Leary is back after a monster season with over 3,000 yards and 35 touchdowns and a Drake Thomas-led defense will be one of the ACC’s best. Outside of Clemson, NC State may be the conference title favorite.
