Stanford Football: Top 3 post-spring 2022 storylines to follow

2. Can the offensive line improve?

Tanner McKee has the potential to be one of the best quarterbacks in the country, but will not get there if he’s on the ground every other play. Stanford’s offensive line will look to prevent that, however it could be a challenge.

The group returns all five starters from last year, however that may not be entirely good news, as it was one of the worst in all of college football.

Statistically speaking, Stanford found itself at or near the bottom in virtually every offensive line measure, including sack rate. Such struggles can hinder a star quarterback; Stanford alum Andrew Luck found this to be the case in the NFL, where he retired after just six seasons, where he was sacked 174 times.

Kevin Carberry will look to continue to work with this veteran group and hope to see some progress in the fall.
