1. Kenny Logan, Kansas

Kenny Logan had as good of a 2021 season as any safety in the FBS, statistically speaking. He led not only the Big 12 with 134 total tackles but that mark was the most by any safety in the country and third nationally regardless of position; he accompanied that with four tackles for loss, one interception, seven pass breakups, and two forced fumbles.

Logan is a true energizer on the field and plays the game with an outward passion that is unrivaled on a play-by-play basis. He is the KU version of legendary Indianapolis Colt, Bob Sanders. He throws his body around with reckless abandonment and makes difficult tackles seem ordinary. Kenny plays a variety of roles on the Jayhawk defense and defensive coordinator Brian Borland has found unique ways to get his star safety around the ball as much as possible.

Throughout the course of the game, expect to see Logan line up as an up-top safety in 2-schemes such as Cover 4 or Cover 2.

While Logan has a compact body type, he shows just enough range to make plays at the third level of the defense; although, this is not where he provides the most impact. Logan excels as the nickel defender that can roam the field like a heat-seeking missile.

His best responsibility is no responsibility(theoretically). He is an instinctual defender that has a nose for the football and does not back down from any challenge.  It is no secret that the Kansas Jayhawks have been a struggling program, but that has not deterred Logan from playing as if he is on a national title contender. He simply plays at a different speed than his counterparts which aids his ability to rack up tackles like homer Simpson racks up calories at a donut shop.

The 2021 second-team All-Big 12 selection and 2020 All-Big 12 Honorable Mention as a return man (he scored a touchdown during that season) will give Jayhawk fans a jolt of inspiration this summer when evaluating the roster. It is understood that Kansas Jayhawk football has not been at the forefront of the college football television lineup, but you will be missing out if you do not track the progress of Mr. Logan this season.
