3. Tennessee

You have to give credit where credit is due and Josh Heupel deserves a lot of credit for the recruiting job he’s doing with the Vols in the 2023 class.

Tennessee is ranked sixth in the 2023 class according to the 247 sports composite and the Vols have 18 commitments overall, even though the blue-chip ratio isn’t what you want it to be if the expectation is to compete for the College Football Playoff.

Five-star EDGE Chandavian Bradley who committed to Tennessee football this cycle giving the Vols their second five-star pledge in 2023, certainly helps that but it’s still eight of 18 overall with 10 three-star prospects committed. That’s 40 percent but it’s still a huge improvement.

Bradley is ranked 36th overall in the 2023 college football recruiting class and is the second-highest pledge for Tennessee behind QB Nicholaus Iamaleava. Cameron Seldon also committed recently and he’s the second top-five prospect in the class to commit this month.

Five of the 18 commitments are from the state of Tennessee, but the Vols have gone into Georgia, California, Missouri, Alabama, Virginia, and nine states total so far in 2023 and it’s an impressive haul, especially thanks to six commitments this month.
