The Hurricanes got some real consideration for the top spot in this mid-month ranking of college football recruiting momentum in July and that is thanks to a pair of elite commitments.

Francis Mauigoa, a five-star offensive tackle ranked ninth overall in the 2023 class came onboard on July 4th and he’s one of three top-100 recruits this month to commit, as well as four ranked in the top 121 of the 247 sports composite rankings.

This is on the heels of landing top-50 QB Jaden Rashada last month. Mauigoa is playing at IMG Academy and EDGE Jayden Wayne (No. 41 overall) is too and he also committed this month as well as linebacker Raul Aguirre (No. 121) and tight end Riley Williams (No. 66).

The Hurricanes have landed four commitments overall this month and that’s moved them to No. 8 overall with 14 total pledges. What’s even better is the blue-chip ratio (57 percent) which was much lower when July started.
