1. LSU football

It’s hard to deny what LSU football has been doing on the recruiting trail in the month of July. The Tigers have 10 commitments total this month and they have surged into the top 10 of the 247 sports team rankings because of it.

Brian Kelly hinted about recruiting as being a reason why he went to LSU, although Notre Dame fans will point out the Irish are doing just fine on the trail right now without him, however, this is what he was talking about.

LSU football has been dominating this month and is ranked seventh overall with 16 commitments total. 10 of those are blue-chip prospects so the Tigers are right in the 60-percent range.

Jalen Brown, a five-star wide receiver out of South Florida was a huge win for the Tigers. He’s ranked 29th overall. Jaxon Howard, a top-100 edge rusher who is also capable of playing tight end, was another notable commitment this month.

More than anything, LSU’s haul is about strength in numbers with six blue chips this month. The Tigers still don’t have a quarterback in 2023 but what they do have is a really solid start to a top-10 college football recruiting class in 2023.
