BYU Football: Ranking 2022 opponents by toughness
Holton Ahlers is back at quarterback for the Pirates after leading them to the No. 4 passing offense in the AAC last year and he’s going to be one of the league’s top passers. This may pose somewhat of a threat to the Cougars but the Pirates are a fringe bowl team and this game will be played in Provo.
I don’t see East Carolina marching in here in late October to steal a win from the Cougars, especially with BYU being so battle-tested heading into the game.
Wyoming should probably make a bowl game after going 5-7 and missing one a year ago, but the Cowboys lost the school’s No. 2 all-time rusher in Xazavian Valladay who transferred to Arizona State in the offseason. That alone will be a huge blow to this offense which is also starting a new quarterback in the form of Andrew Peasley who transferred in from Utah State.
The Cowboys have plenty of question marks but Craig Bohl will probably lead them to a 6-6 or 7-5 season despite losing some important production. This team might surprise some people but it’s not going to do anything special.
