BYU Football: Ranking 2022 opponents by toughness
Losing Malik Willis to the NFL will be a tough blow for Liberty and Hugh Freeze, but the Flames are hoping to replace at least some of that production with Charlie Brewer. The Baylor and Utah transfer didn’t end his time in Salt Lake City on a high note, but he’s hoping for better luck at Liberty and he’s honestly not a terrible option at quarterback.
The Flames’ defense, which ranked 11th nationally last year, brings back just four starters which means that Freeze has his work cut out for him. It’s going to be an up-and-down year for the Flames but this could still be an upset alert type of game.
Blake Anderson took over at Utah State last year and had success immediately. He went 11-3 with losses to just Wyoming, BYU, and Boise State and if I were to wager a bet, I’d say that the Aggies are one of the best teams in the Mountain West this season.
Utah State is going to be a tough test but I think BYU will be able to handle the Aggies in Provo.
