A wide-open Pac-12

Utah head coach Kyle Whittingham has a really impressive team coming back and Cameron Rising gives the Utes a really good QB/head coach combo in their own right. Observers would also be correct to point out that Utah is likely to have a better defense than the Trojans.

That’s probably right too, although I think some people are discounting USC football’s talent level on that side of the ball just a little bit.

The Utes aren’t close to breaking into the top 15 (recruiting rankings) or ranked high enough to be considered a playoff contender according to the blue-chip ratio but the Trojans are.

USC is also going to be better than people realize in certain areas. Domani Jackson should help the secondary right away and this defense has five-star dudes all over the place. Plus, Travis Dye behind an underrated offensive line is going to be tough to stop. That will also aid USC’s defense.

Oregon is another team that’s right there in the mix and the Ducks might have the most talent of any program in the Pac-12 right now. But the Trojans don’t have to play the Ducks in 2022, which leads up to point No. 3 which is the schedule.
