9. Oklahoma: Dillon Gabriel leads Sooners to Big 12 title

I’m buying stock in Oklahoma before the season again and you might call me a fool, but I think that the addition of Dillon Gabriel was a game-changer. Losing Caleb Williams and Lincoln Riley was a gut-punch, but Gabriel is going to thrive in this offense and Brent Venables is going to thrive in his first season back with the program after he was a coordinator years ago. Venables and Gabriel will bring the Sooners back to the top of the Big 12 with a conference title.

8. Michigan: Wolverines lose three regular-season games

Looking at Michigan’s schedule, it’s hard to find three losses. This schedule screams “10 wins at least” but I’m going to surprise everyone here and say that the Wolverines will fall short of that goal. The Wolverines will lose in the finale to Ohio State and at Kinnick Stadium in the beginning of October to an upset-hungry Iowa team, presumable under the lights. And then there are games against Michigan State and Penn State that I believe the Wolverines will split. Jim Harbaugh will come back down to earth a bit.

7. Utah: Utes make their first-ever playoff

Kyle Whittingham continues to be one of the most underrated head coaches in college football and that hasn’t changed. His Utes struggled at the beginning of the 2021 season after Charlie Brewer struggled to adjust and then Cameron Rising took over and quarterback and everything turned around. The Utes finished with a Pac-12 title, blowing Oregon out twice along the way, and they finally made a Rose Bowl. They’re going one step further this year with a playoff berth.
