You know you’re a great coach when you can lose in the national title game and finish the season 13-2 and have it be considered a disappointing year. Nick Saban did just that in 2021, going 13-1 with an SEC title before losing to Georgia in the national championship game.

The year before, however, Saban won his seventh national title and sixth with the Tide, beating Ohio State by four touchdowns.

Not only is Saban the best coach in the country heading into the 2022 season, he’s the best coach in college football history. He has seven (!!) national titles, 14 SEC West titles, 10 SEC championships, and he’s won numerous coaching awards spanning back a couple of decades. He’s been dominant forever.

Plus he’s had success everywhere he’s been in college. Starting with Toledo, he won a MAC title before going to Michigan State and compiling a 34-24 record. He then left for LSU where he went 48-16 with a national title in five years. He took a chance in the NFL before coming back to coach the Tide where he’s an incredible 178-25 since 2007.

Saban is the king of college football.
