Arkansas Football: 3 reasons why Razorbacks will beat No. 23 Texas A&M
Texas A&M will not be able to protect their quarterback vs Arkansas
If there were an award handed out for Transfer Player of the Year, the front runner for the 2022 award would be none other than Arkansas linebacker Drew Sanders.
The former Alabama Crimson Tide player is currently tied for the national lead in total sacks (5.5) this season. He’s quickly become a leader of this defense, alongside longtime linebacker Bumper Pool.
Together, this Arkansas defense has 17 sacks, which is the most of any college football team in the country. Credit Defensive Coordinator Barry Odom and seven of his defenders for getting that total up so high this early in the season.
Additionally, the Hogs are allowing just 68.3 rushing yards per game this season, which is the sixth fewest in college football and best among any time in the SEC.
Unfortunately for A&M, they don’t have a strong passing game. They benched QB Haynes King after mustering just 97 passing yards and no touchdowns in the loss to App State.
New starting QB Max Johnson isn’t much better. The junior QB is completing just 54% of his passes this season after finishing at 60% last season while at LSU. He struggled against Miami last week too, completing just 10 passes.
Drew Sanders and the rest of this Arkansas defense will have a field day with Johnson. They’ll use their defense to help propel their offense and get a tough neutral-site win.
