What this means for LSU football

Don’t look now but the Tigers are a legitimate contender in the SEC West. Not only is LSU football 6-2 overall but the Tigers are also 4-1 in the SEC West and will be tied for first place even if Alabama beats Mississippi State on Saturday.

Knocking off Ole Miss was critical too. The Rebels would have owned the tiebreaker and a two-game lead, so essentially, it would have ended any hope the Tigers had of contending in the division.

Now, they own a win over Ole Miss and will host Alabama after the bye week. Beating the Crimson Tide doesn’t seem so impossible after last week. Tennessee did it a couple of weeks ago. The Tigers will need to play much better than they did when they hosted the Vols.

But can you imagine Death Valley in two weeks?

It might be too early to say the LSU football is back, but Tiger fans have to be feeling good about the hire of Brian Kelly now, especially since the production on the field matches the recruiting success.
