College Football Playoff and NY6 bowl projections after Week 10
Orange Bowl
North Carolina v Alabama
Previous: North Carolina v Ole Miss
After just one week, we’re changing our Orange Bowl projections yet again. North Carolina continues to represent the ACC, while Alabama is shocked to find itself in The Orange Bowl.
When Clemson was shut out at Notre Dame in embarrassing fashion, many will assume that Clemson naturally takes the ACC’s Orange Bowl bid. Not so fast my friend, as we’re projecting the Tar Heels to win the ACC.
Right now the best player no one is talking about is UNC quarterback Drake Maye. The star QB has the Heels at 8-1, but only #15 in the rankings. At this point, it’s hard to see them making a late CFP run, but I believe they’re a better team than Clemson.
While the Tar Heels are on the rise, the opposite can be said about what’s going on in Tuscaloosa. A second loss before the end of the regular season, a first since 2019 and second in over a decade, has the Tide reeling as #11 Ole Miss hosts Alabama, looking for the knockout blow.
This is a crazy turn of events for a team that not only looked like they were going to win the playoff national championship last year, but were heavy favorites to finish the job this year.
A defense and offense that lacks superstar weapons around Bryce Young and Will Anderson Jr, both needed to be as dominant as last year. Both haven’t, and they’ve lost two tough games on the road. I don’t think this team Is bad, they’re just not one of the 4 best teams in the country.
A trip to Miami may not be what they’re looking for coming into the year, and it’d be fascinating to see how they respond
Maye and Mack vs Young and Saban, a potential coaching rematch from the 2009 BCS championship.
