Orange Bowl

Clemson v Ohio State
Previous: Clemson v Alabama

In what may be the most fascinating NY6 bowl, we have two rivals that are used to meeting in a playoff game, trying to get their team off on the right foot in 2023. These two have advanced to three of the past four College Football Playoff National Championships, twice at the painful expense of the opposing team.

Clemson has limped to the finish, getting shut out by Notre Dame and then having their epic home winning streak snapped to their in-state rival South Carolina Gamecocks.

The Tigers will have to regroup at the ACC championship against equally wounded North Carolina. Let’s be honest, Florida State has turned a corner and is probably more deserving of the bid, but that’s how it works sometimes.

In this scenario, I project Clemon’s defense to wake up, contain future Heisman favorite Drake Maye, and get to Miami.

Back to the Buckeyes, the big losers of the week. They lose their biggest game of the year, at home, and appear to be getting booted from the Rose Bowl because they and their fans appear to be ungrateful. Weird times in Columbus.

I don’t think South Beach is exactly what they had in mind, but the opportunity for CJ Stroud to try and lock up the #1 pick against a Clemson defense filled with NFL stars. It’s not a playoff game, but it will feel like it with all the world-class talent flying around the field.
