Season Overview: This season was a bit of a letdown that culminated with a bowl loss to the Air Force. The Bears won the Big 12 last season and lost a ton of production from that team, especially defensively. Baylor was susceptible to the big play all season, and that showed in the many leads they surrendered.
2023 Outlook: Baylor has quarterback Blake Shapen entrenched as its quarterback and will return running backs Richard Reese, Qualan Jones, and Craig Williams. Much of the defense returns as well. Baylor should make another run next season if the passing game improves. If the Bears want to make a run, however, the defense’s back end has to improve.
