5. Oklahoma State

Record: 7-6, 4-5

Team Leaders:

Passing: Spencer Sanders, 2642 Yds, 17 TDs

Rushing: Dominic Richardson, 543 Yds, 8 TDs

Receiving: Brennan Pressley, 67 Rec, 813 Yds, 2 TDs

Tackles: Jason Taylor II, 99 total tackles

Sacks: Collin Oliver, 5

Interceptions: Jason Taylor II, 6

Key Wins: Texas 41-34

Bad Losses: Oklahoma 28-13

Season Overview: Much of the Cowboys’ season came down to injuries. Spencer Sanders was one of my players who dealt with injuries for much of the season. When head coach Mike Gundy had a healthy team, they were competitive and won. Yet, it was not the follow-up to playing in the Big 12 Championship in 2021 that Oklahoma State expected.

2023 Outlook: The Spencer Sanders era at Oklahoma State ended as the veteran signal-caller put his name in the transfer portal. Garret Rangel, Gunnar Gundy, or a quarterback to be named later will start in 2023. Hopefully, the Cowboys won’t have the injury issues they had this past season.
