Kentucky is still a program to watch

The Wildcats have been able to sustain success under Mark Stoops to a point, but they haven’t had back-to-back 10-win seasons and haven’t won a division title or any sort of championship.

That’s a tall order. I get that and it’s even harder now with the way that Georgia has evolved into an absolute juggernaut. But soon, Kentucky will have a shot to make a 12-team playoff. That’s a reasonable expectation for this program to at least contend for an at-large berth when that format starts in the 2024 season and moves like this help.

Adding talented quarterbacks usually makes it easier to get other talented recruits to join a program and Kentucky needs that boost. Stoops has been stringing together top-25 classes but so far in 2024, the Wildcats have just two commitments — technically three now that Boley has changed to the 2024 class.

The addition of the top QB in the history of the program, one that is from the state, should help with recruiting and give Kentucky an even bigger boost on the trail.

Stoops has done an impressive job. Yet, he was given a new contract to get Kentucky over the hump and Cutter Boley was another step in the right direction.
