Iowa Football: 3 bold predictions vs. Purdue in Week 6
By Brad Schultz
1. The game will be decided on a last-second field goal
The last time Purdue visited Iowa City, it was not a pleasant time for Iowa, as the Boilermakers not only spoiled homecoming but also the Hawkeyes No. 2 ranking. Purdue has won four of the last six meetings against Iowa, but the Hawkeyes won 24-3 in last season’s matchup in West Lafayette.
This season, it feels different. Purdue has a new head coach, Ryan Walters, and they are off to an uninspiring 2-3 start. Former wide receiver David Bell is no longer around to haunt the Hawkeyes, and former Iowa wideout Tyrone Tracy Jr. is now a running back for the Boilers.
With a big matchup against Wisconsin looming next week, this game has a trap-game-type feel to it for Iowa, and Purdue is desperate for a win to get back to .500.
Ultimately, it will come down to a last-second field goal to determine the winner of this crucial Big Ten West matchup. Whether that be Iowa’s Drew Stevens or Purdue’s Julio Macias remains a mystery, but one of these teams is going to take advantage of a late mistake by the other side and have a chance at a thrilling victory.
