No. 2 Louisville’s Defense is Stepping Up

Louisville’s defense has been getting better and better week by week and they are looking to be in their best shape in time for their biggest matchup this weekend. Louisville had one of the best defenses in the league last year, but after losing some players to the NFL Draft it has been knocked down a few pegs. However, this defense still has some playmakers on it, and it all came together last weekend against NC State. The Cardinals held NC State to 10 points and they were all scored in the first half, and held them to just 201 total yards.

Jeff Brohm has players like Ashton Gillotte in the front 5 and Quincy Riley in the secondary who were major players last season and are still making plays this season. Louisville is just one more step away from having an amazing defensive performance in every game. If some of the edge rushers get one more step in or stop slipping on turf they are getting multiple more sacks a game. The same goes for the secondary, where if they just step up an extra step they are getting the turnover or at least a bat down.

The Cardinals have the players, coaches, and talent to have a great defensive team. It is just a matter of putting it all together for a full 60 minutes of football. Jeff Brohm and his defensive coordinator Ron English will have the team ready to play, as they always do for big games like these.
