Pac-12 Power Rankings: #10 USC survives thriller, Buffs and #19 Bruins win
By Dante Pryor
8. Arizona Wildcats (3-3, 1-2): Speaking of those Wildcats, if teams didn’t come away from their gritty performance against #10 USC and not think they won’t be a tough out, think again. Head coach Jedd Fisch has ‘Zona playing hard. Don’t be surprised if quarterback Daniel Fifita “Wally Pips” Jayden deLaura.
7. #19 Washington State (4-1, 1-4): Four turnovers were the nail for the Cougars in their 25-17 loss to the #18 UCLA Bruins. Quarterback Cameron Ward had his worst game in a while. Numbers never lie; Wazzu was 2-13 on third down with 19 rushing yards. The Cougars take on a pesky Arizona team.
6. #18 UCLA (4-1, 1-1): It wasn’t pretty, but the Bruins got it done against the Cougars mentioned above. Frankly, it hasn’t been pretty in conference play for UCLA. Head coach Chip Kelly has trusted highly-touted frosh quarterback Dante Moore. Coach Kelly knew he would take his lumps with a true freshman quarterback. He has to be pleased with what’s happened on the field thus far.
5. #16 Utah (4-1, 1-1): It appears that quarterback Cameron Rising was not kidnapped by Utah mountain men and taken to the Great Basin, but the injury sustained in the Rose Bowl was worse than first thought. Head coach Kyle Whittingham has to garner consideration for Coach of the Year if the Utes can continue to win at a high level with spotty quarterback play.
