9. TCU (4-4, 2-3 conference)

The game against Kansas State this week felt over as it was just beginning. TCU gave up 21 points in the first quarter and were never able to find their feet, on offense or defense. TCU was held to just 300 total yards, their lowest of the season, and gave up 587 total yards, their most on the season. TCU came into the season being ranked high in the Big 12, but they are not producing as expected. They now look to next week for their bye week before Texas Tech in week 10.

8. BYU (5-2, 2-2 conference)

BYU continues to be the only newcomer doing well so far in the Big 12. They handled Texas Tech easily. Their defense came up big in this game, forcing five turnovers, but the offense looked stiff and stale. BYU had a total of 277 yards on the game, most of it coming from the ground game with 150 yards. BYU faces a tough one this week when they play Texas.

7. West Virginia (4-3, 2-2 conference)

This game was a slugfest in Morgantown, with West Virginia up at halftime 17-13. But West Virginia’s defense wasn’t able to stop the run game at all, giving up 281 yards on the ground. West Virginia’s quarterback Garrett Greene showed up, throwing for 249 yards and a touchdown. The defense simply wore out against the fast-paced offense. West Virginia looks to bounce back this week against UCF.
