College Football Rankings 2023: Projected playoff Top 25 for Week 10
North Carolina played one of the late games on Saturday night, going to Atlanta to face an improving Georgia Tech team. It was a high-scoring affair, but the Tar Heels fell just short for a second straight game. I think the committee will be talking about leaving them out completely, but Mack Brown’s team has been top-15 worthy all year until the last two weeks.
A lot of people have called Kansas State a disappointment this season, but the Wildcats are still 6-2 now with a 41-0 win over Houston to reach bowl eligibility. If a bowl berth before the calendar turns to November is considered disappointing, I know dozens of Power Five teams that would love to have “disappointing” seasons.
I believe that the playoff committee is going to show some love for an undefeated Liberty after it picked up win No. 8 this past week over Western Kentucky. This team, led by Jamey Chadwell, has been one of the nation’s biggest surprises and potentially the best non-Power Five team. It’s about time this team gets some respect.
James Madison had a bit of a scare on Saturday night against Old Dominion which has been fairly pesky this season. The Dukes held on to remain undefeated and it’s time to start really taking this 8-0 team from the Sun Belt seriously.
Yes, Kansas will be a top-25 playoff team this week. Why? The Jayhawks shocked the Oklahoma Sooners with a 38-33 win on Saturday afternoon even without Jalon Daniels who was out and being replaced by Jason Bean. Lance Leipold has a legit team right here and I think it’s good enough to be ranked in the top 25 in the first playoff rankings.
